What is Edinburgh's disgrace?

Good evening everyone!

To say goodbye for today, we leave you this post about a curiosity from Edinburgh (Scotland), its National Monument.

National Monument of Scotland.
The National Monument of Scotland, also known as the "shame or disgrace of Edinburgh", is located on the top of Calton Hill, just in east of Princes Street, and is a monument built in honor to Scottish soldiers and sailors who died in the Napoleonic Wars.

It was designed between 1823 and 1826 by Charles Robert Cockerell and William Henry Playfair, and the structure, as can be seen with a naked eye, is based on the Parthenon in Athens. Although its construction began in 1826, due to lack of funds, the monument remained unfinished in 1829.

Since then it is known as the "shame" or "disgrace" of Edinburgh and Scotland, but now it has become a very valued tourist monument for this country.

See you!
