The Scottish Sword Dance.

Good morning everyone!


We want to begin this day with a mini post about a traditonal dance, the Scottish Sword Dance.

     Sword Dance in the Highland Games, Ballater.
The Scottish Sword Dance or Gillie Calum is a dance of Scotland (UK) in which the dancer crosses two swords on the ground forming an "X", dance around them and within the four quarters of it.

This dance is performed by both men and women, and children during festivities and competitions.

In this dance we can see how people wear the typical Scottish dress suit with the characteristic "kilt" or Scottish skirt.
