The Guinigi Tower, the tower of the oaks.

Good afternoon everyone!

Today we bring you a picturesque Italian place, the Guinigi Tower.

The Guinigi Tower is the most famous tower in the city of Lucca in the Italian Tuscany. The tower of about 44 meters high, is globally known for hosting a garden with some oaks on its top. You can access it by Via Sant'Andrea, 45, and right next to it, there is a palace of the same name, which belonged to Michele, Francesco and Nicolao Guinigi.

In the Lucca from the XIV century, there were a lot of towers and campaniles within the walls of the city, and Guinigi Tower is one of the few that still remains standing. In that century, the Guinigi family, who owned much of the city and was one of the most famous families of Lucca, wanted to beautify the tower with a garden with trees. This garden became a symbol of the Renaissance and even appeared in the family's shield.

Nowadays, the tower has been donated to the city of Lucca by the last heir of the Guinigi family.

So travelers, if you have the opportunity, visit Lucca and take a picture from the tower. There is a nice view from up there.

See you!
